Common Objections of Christian Scout Troops Dispelled
Some believe that Scouting America is too liberal and that it is a lost cause. However, we strongly believe that it is entirely possible for Christian troops to thrive.

Scouting America is Too Liberal
From our experience, we believe that a Christian troop can thrive in Scouting America. The Scouting Law and Oath which are based on solid Christian moral principles remain unchanged. One common misconception is that troops are now coed with boys and girls. Currently troops must be either all-boy or all-girl. If Scouting America decides to allow all coed troops in the future, there should still be the option to maintain an all-boy or all-girl troop. It is your decision. Another misunderstanding is about the selection of adult leaders. The sponsoring organization approves all adult leaders which means that a church can select only Christian leaders, for example. As a Christian troop, you are free to pray, quote the Bible, give Scoutmaster Minutes and do anything that you feel is appropriate to raise up Christian youth.
The new Citizenship in Society merit badge is too liberal
There are no mandated beliefs in the new Citizenship in Society merit badge. Find a Christian merit badge counselor whom you trust to lead the discussions. The discussions can be helpful if guided appropriately. Our youth deal with these issues in their lives.
Other troops are not Christian
Such is our country. It is a good opportunity to learn how to get along with others while maintaining distinctions. Your troop is led by you, not others. You establish the culture in your troop. Additionally, 70% of troops are sponsored by religious organizations.
Eagle rank is too hard
The Eagle rank requires time and initiative. That is what makes it meaningful. Many of your scouts can obtain Eagle if they stick with the program. Raise up youth leaders and get them to raise up the younger ones. Youth-led is one of the distinctives of the Scouting America program.
Too much time required by adult leaders
This can be resolved by spreading the responsibilities. Use your troop committee and assistant Scoutmasters. If your parents see the value, they will do anything to help. You will gain much more than you give.
